Essential Oils VS. Scented Candles

There is great debate when it comes to the best way that you can add scents to your home. Scented candles are usually the go to method of making a home smell clean and fresh. Using natural essential oils can not only be more effective at eliminating odors but this method could also be much safer for your health as well.

Scented candles are an easy solution for unwinding and relaxing but one of the problems with these scented candles is that you have to burn a wick as well as chemicals to actually activate the scent. The process of burning candles can actually release chemicals into the air which can cause a variety of different health effects.

In a study conducted by a professor of civil engineering named Anne Steinemann through the University of Melbourne, certain candles were identified as emitting hazardous chemicals like Toluene and Benzene as they were burned. These types of chemicals have been associated with a variety of conditions ranging from lung cancer, central nervous system issues, brain issues, as well as potential basic developmental difficulties. Both petroleum-based and paraffin-based candles were tested for these potential problems. Soy candles were not tested for this study.

Essential oils can be activated with hyperbolic waves and they don't need to burn chemicals or wicks in order to showcase their effects. Essential oils are far better than candles with chemicals and they are a 100% natural solution if sourced from the right supplier. Many essential oils are derived directly from elements of nature like lavender, citrus, frankincense, lemon, and many more. The oils are distilled directly from the sources and they don't contain any of the harmful chemicals that you commonly find in scented candles.

Rather than risking your health and the indoor air quality of your home, consider using essential oils instead of candles for getting rid of unwanted odors and freshening up your home.
